Hello, and welcome to the updated site!
Folks have been asking what we’re up to since we’ve been kind of out of circulation. The truth is we’re
on a break until Jay Goree’s real job (the one that pays the bills) settles down a bit…or until we decide we can’t
wait any longer and want to get out again.
Meanwhile, I’ve been writing and recording as often as time will
allow…and sometimes more (thanks Corrie for understanding). I find myself asking what is/are my goals with the music.
Well, it's like this... I’ve got a library of around eighty songs just sitting here growing stale and I want
to play them…birth them…get them out into the world. It’s not about fame or fortune as much as it’s
just something that I am driven to do. Hey I won’t complain if someone wants to buy a recording or the song for that
matter. How cool would it be to have a song picked up by a known talent or be the soundtrack for a TV show or movie? But the
reality is I just want people to hear and, most importantly, enjoy the music.
Anyway, my project for now is to record
my music and get it out. Time has a way of flying by. You know the saying “time flies like an arrow, fruit flies like
a banana”. Yes, that is totally irrelevant but that’s my point. I can sit around here forever wondering what to
do with my music and where to find other players to play what I’m hearing in my head, or I can, since I’m fortunate
enough to play so many instruments, simply record all the parts myself. So that’s what I’m doing. To hear the
results of this project just click on the “music” tab and you will be linked to my new stuff.
As far as
live music, which I truly love to play, I’m still very active with The Lone Derangers. We play around our area and are
always looking for gigs. Check us out on our My Space page (there's a link below) and let me know what you think.
And
finally, a big favor. If you get a chance to listen to some of the songs, please let me know, good or bad, what you think.
As musicians we often operate out of a vacuum and really need feedback. Of course we love to hear the praise…but it’s
often the constructive criticism that generates the biggest growth.
